There are moments in films where the makers and the material with which the film is being made become visible. This is not to be mistaken with those movies that consciously do it for certain valid reasons of their own. These moments, for me, are not to be taken as 'mistakes', as is usually pronounced, but rather as genuine instances of labour. Whereas filmakers including the crew make it a duty to conceal their involvement from within the plot of the movie and verily so but instances and shots happen that get filmed in which their concealment cannot be but perceived openly. While shooting a film therefore a lot of things reflect on glasses, mirrors, cars etc. that make the composition of a movie all too human. From here on, I will be sharing such scenes from the movies I have seen or will see in the future. Enjoy.
1. Here one can see someone with a recording camera, probably Kiarostami himself. 2. In this scene one can see a reflection of the camera replacing the eyes of the protagonist. 3. The protagonist is shaving here in front of the camera (as reflected in his glasses).
